The day I got married, on June 8 1991, to one Jance Elliott Reynolds was the happiest day of my life. When we had 4 daughters, one of which, Madison, we lost to hypoplastic left heart in 1996, but we carried on, trusting God and I was able to be a stay-at-home mom and build a business on the side with Jance. Life was wonderful!!
On December 18, 2012 a week before Christmas, I lost my amazing husband, Jance and my sweet special needs daughter, Mary Paige in a 3:00 am house fire.
We had just moved, around 6 weeks before, to a home that we were renting to buy.
My nephew, a teenager at the time, was still up at 3am and smelled smoke, he yelled something wrong…
Jance and I got up and l literally saw black smoke walking up the stairs.
I yelled for my two daughters 15 and 11 at the time to come down from the third floor, we went into Mary Paige’s bedroom and I yelled for her to come to me and told the girls to jump out of the second floor window.
They would not and my husband told me to jump first l, so I opened the window, jumped, coaxed the girls out and all Jance had to do was to grab Mary Paige and jump too.
But the smoke engulfed them and they never came to the window .
We lost them and every single worldly possession that night.
I had to start all over again. I thank God that I knew Him before the fire so I had my anchor and my church home.
